私は,「Effect of P-Delta Action of Actuators in A Hybrid Loading Test」という題目で発表しました.

13 WCEE is an impressive conference. It gathered the most of researchers and engineers in the world who are devoted to the study and/or application of earthquake engineering. According to the diversities of national or regional conditions, each country’s researches may reflect what their current concerned matters are and the corresponding aseismic countermeasures. Undoubtedly, all efforts are the contributions to the enhancement of knowledge and technology of earthquake engineering. In addition, many well-known researchers presented their newest, superior achievements of researches. We could not only experience their presence but also realize the current trend of the advanced earthquake engineering. By the way, regarding my oral presentation, I have learned from question that I should do research in wider consideration and how to improve the question skill. Finally, I really thank my advisor, Professor Kawashima, for the advice about my presentation.

私は,2日目のポスターセッションにて「Driving Simulator Experiment on the Effect of Early Warning of Seismic Motion to Expressway Drivers」と題して発表しました.

It was a great opportunity to be at 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering held at Vancouver. My involvement in the conference was through three different ways which kept me busy. They are

1.Presented a poster titled “Buckling of piles during seismic liquefaction”.
2.Demonstrated the roles and functions of “CUEE” at the Exhibition.
3.Chaired an oral session on “Soil-Foundation Interaction -1”.

I am thankful to CUEE especially to Professor Tokimatsu for the financial support extended in attending the conference. I am benefited in various ways - starting from gaining knowledge in many aspects of earthquake engineering, to establishing contacts with academicians and engineers around the world, to exploring new areas of research, to know a new country and culture. I think these schemes are beneficial to young researchers which not only makes them smart and competent but also helps them to gauge where they stand in a global competition.
